This always seems to happen – your dressed up and going somewhere important and then the dog, full of mud comes along and jumps on you, knocking things out of your arms and wrecking your clothes!
Dogs jump because they are excited, playful, dominant, or just plain out of control. There are a lot of trainers and books that recommend correcting your dog by kneeing them in the chest or stepping on their feet. Canine Companions does not do these things!
We teach your dog to do something else like ‘sit.’ We know that your dog cannot jump if it is sitting. The problem is that most dogs do not listen when they are excited, playful, dominant, or just plain out of control. Control commands such as sit, down, and stay will control your dog and teach them what to do instead.
